Dato’ Ts. Dr. Shanmuganathan Palanisamy
CEO, Kontron Malaysia
Despite Penang's reputation as the 'Silicon Valley of the East' and its strong Electrical and Electronic (E&E) ecosystem, there is a noticeable lack of diversity among unicorns and a significant gap in the participation of various communities in the E&E sectors. This is surprising given the success of many industry leaders from diverse backgrounds and the substantial FDI flowing into Penang. This summit is therefore very timely, as it seeks to identify opportunities, gaps, and recommendations for policymakers to help Malaysian SMEs move up the value chain and tap into new rewarding opportunities, especially in the E&E sectors. We hope to see increased participation from all communities, reflecting the true diversity and inclusivity of our society, in the near future.
